Government of Kerala announces Kerala Technology Startup Policy

For the first time in India Government of Kerala unfolds the broad framework for creation of a startup ecosystem in technology based startups across sectors in state of Kerala.


The policy defines Incubator as Technology Business Incubator recognized either by the Central or State Government while ’Start Up’ as innovation based technology firm registered under the Companies Act and within 3 years of incorporation.

The Policy is split into nine sections that are the strategic building blocks towards a world-class startup ecosystem viz., Infrastructure, Incubators and Accelerators, Human Capital Development, Funding, State Support, Governance, Public Private Partnership, Scaling Existing and Establishing New Incubators and Startup-Bootup-Scaleup model for moving fast from ideas to IPO.

Kerala government to come up with Kerala Technology Startup Policy, 2014

For the first time in the Nation, the Government of Kerala is planning to come up with Kerala Technology Startup Policy. The draft policy has been sent to few stakeholders academia, incubators, government support system, state departments of industries etc for their suggestions. Through the policy the government aims to develop an ecosystem to empower the and enable the highly talented youth of Kerala to pursue their dreams within the state.
