Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) along with KEY Accelerator is organizing a Session on Megatrends: The Smart Future on 28th of May 2018 from 09:30 am to 04:00 pm.  Megatrends are global, sustained and macroeconomic forces of development that impact business, economy, society, cultures and personal lives thereby defining our future world and its increasing pace of change. The session will do well on the opportunities that the Megatrends offer for Entrepreneurs and start-ups.

The session will also bring forth areas which could be tapped by the community for making a meaningful impact. The session which is going to be a one day exercise will also provide an opportunity to meet and learn from the innovation leaders from the industry and the entrepreneurial community.  Leaders from the Innovation team- NITRO ( Next Generation IT Research Organization)  of EY GDS will be leading the session.

“IDEA FEST 2018!!” The right idea will fly

Kerala Startup Mission is organizing the Idea Fest as the 10th Idea Day aimed for promoting the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth in the state of Kerala. This event focuses exclusively on innovative projects by college students in Kerala.

First Stage Application Overview

All the students interested for participating in the Idea Fest were asked to submit their Stage 1 Application form. All students who submitted the application/interest form in stage 1 and submitted Stage 2 application form were considered for the initial selection of Idea Fest.

Stage 1 Application: Interest form

  • The Stage 1 Application form was opened for students to make their interest submissions.
  • In the first stage, a total of 2384 applications were received.
  • All students who submitted the Stage 1 application was provided guidance by KSUM Team to complete their Stage 2 application form through its partners ICT Academy of Kerala and Rethink Foundation.

Stage 2 Application: Idea Fest Application Form

The Stage 2 application form was made available till March 5th and those who submitted the Stage 2 application only were shortlisted for the initial selection round of Idea Fest.

Initial Shortlisting

The initial screening process was done by the KSUM Team in which incomplete and trial applications were eliminated.

And further the applications were vetted by IEDC nodal officers from respective IEDC colleges.

Second Stage Shortlisting

KSUM had organized second stage shortlisting at 8 different locations where the applicants presented their idea to an expert panel.

The panel of judges shortlisted 281 ideas with potential and they had also provided other applicants necessary feedback for improving their idea and presentation.

The detailed information regarding the number of ideas shortlisted from different venues are as follows:

Demo and final selection of all the shortlisted ideas will be announced soon. Kerala Startup Mission presents Idea Fest 2018

Kerala Startup Mission is set to organise the Idea Fest during the first week of April 2018. The 10th Idea Day organised by KSUM is aimed at promoting the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth of the state. This event will focus exclusively on innovative projects by students in Kerala.

Application Overview

All students who are interested in participating in the Idea Fest are first expected to submit their Stage 1 Application form, which is only an interest form. All students should also complete and submit their Stage 2 application form to be considered for selection to Idea Fest.

Stage 1 Application: Interest form

The Stage 1 Application form is open and will continue to remain open for students to make their interest submissions. All students who have submitted the Stage 1 application form will be provided guidance by KSUM to complete their Stage 2 application form through its partners ICT Academy and Rethink Foundation.

The Stage 2 application form is open and only the students who complete the Stage 2 application will be considered for final selection to Idea Fest. The deadline for submission of Stage 2 application is March 4th, 2018.

Shortlisting

The applications will be vetted by IEDC nodal officers from each college. KSUM will be organising zonal events where the applicants will be able to present the idea to a panel. This panel will both shortlist the ideas with potential and provide the applicants necessary feedback for improving their idea and presentation. This step is expected to be completed in the month of March.

Guidance from Rethink

All students who have submitted the interest form (Application Stage 1) will be receiving guidance from Rethink over emails. For guidance, you can also refer to the Idea Grant Wiki page of Rethink (bit.ly/rethinkideagrant) for more details and mail in to volunteers@rethinkfoundation.in

Rethink Foundation is helping with the outreach for the program. Rethink is also acting as a help-desk to help students fill the application form. Shortlisting and selection will be done by experts handpicked by KSUM

Albin has over 5 years of experience in Computer graphics, Game development and Augmented reality / Virtual Reality starting his career in Dell International Services.He has been part of developing various AR/VR applications targetting entertainment as well as enterprises. He graduated from NMIT, Bangalore in Computer Science and Engineering. He is an official Certified Unity Developer. Albin is also passionate about teaching AR/VR development across colleges and connecting with tech-community

As the required software are bit heavy in size and required high bandwidth to install, it may not be possible for them to install them on the premise during the workshop.
