TechTop is an All India Engineering Students project competition jointly organized by Technopark, Trivandrum and Degree C and supported by IEEE and Executive Knowledge Lines for the prestigious Degree C award, the one which offers largest prize money in this class.TechTop is promoted by Technopark for spreading the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship.TechTop is organized every year to tap the innovative potential of entrepreneurial citizens of India. The objective is to promote individual innovators through support mechanism at various stages to become technology based entrepreneurs (Technopreneurs). All projects selected after final screening shall be eligible for incubation support from Technopark TechTop 2008 was and organized at Technopark and about 100 Engineering colleges from around the country have participated in the contest. Out of this 24 Engineering Colleges from different parts of the country were short listed to make their presentations and demonstrations to the Award Committee in Technopark.The major sponsor’s of TechTop 2008 were IBS, SunTech Business Soutions, One view Systems, AES Solutions, Light Logics, Aviva Life Insurance, Acts Info, MobMe, ThoughtLine Technologies etc.
The Second prize of Rs.25000 sponsored by IBS Group was won by THE OXFORD COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, Bangalore, and Karnataka for their project “CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT ASSEMBLY”. The Third prize of Rs. 10000/- sponsored by One view systems, Technopark & Suntech Business Solutions ,Technopark was won by BITS PILANI ,Goa & Sahrdaya Engg College, Kodakara for their projects “ Microbial Fuel Cell Using Sewage & Water Plants” & “EOG BASED ROOM UTILITY CONTROL FOR BEDRIDDEN PATIENTS”
TechTop is a very innovative programme by which TTBI is able to spot more and more incubatees right from the colleges
The first prize for Degree C Trophee and a cash prize of Rs.1 Lakh was won by DKTE’s Textile & Engg Institute, Ichalkaranji, Maharastra for their project “Electrolyte Effluent Treatment Plant”
An Entrepreneurship Development Cell has been formally inauguratedat Matha College of Technology, North Paravur on 29th September, 2008in the College Auditorium with the support of Technopark.
The EDC wasinaugurated by Mr.Sathish Dutt, CEO, EcommIT Labs,Infopark bylighting the lamp. The inaugural function was presided over by Dr. N Premachandran,Principal, Matha College of Technology.Shri. G.Vijayakrishnan, Rtd Deputy Director, Industries Department , Mr.V.S.Sukumaran, Faculty-EDII, Mr.Sanal Kumar, Manager of thecollege, Sreejith S, Technical officer,Technopark TBI and Adv.K.S. Hariharan attended the inaugural ceremony ,addressed thegathering and enlightened them with entrepreneurial thoughts.
Inaugurating the EDC Mr.Sathish Dutt stressed the importance ofpromoting entrepreneurship culture among youngsters. ‘If you have that passionor burning desire to become an entrepreneur, then you should be willing to takerisks. EntrepreneurshipDevelopment Cells (EDC) aims to support andpromote innovative ideas from campuses. EDC Schemes are initiated by Departmentof Science of Technology, Govt of Inida.Its objective is to develop aninstitutional mechanism to create entrepreneurial culture in Science &Technology (S&T) academic institutions and to foster technoentrepreneurshipfor the generation of wealth and employment. Technopark Technology Business Incubator(T-TBI) has taken this initiative of the Govt of India to the TopE ngineering Colleges in Kerala in order to exploit and effectively convert the skills and expertise within the institute to create entrepreneurial ventures.
TBI shall be extending all sorts of support to theEngineering College for co-ordinating the effective conduct of theEntrepreneurship Development Activities thus maintaining the status of aRegional TBI in the State.
Virtual Incubation’ is a new concept of incubation practised by Technopark-TBI to promote Entrepreneuship in educational institutions. In virtual incubation the respective college shall offer the infrastructure facilities needed to incubate the students start ups. The start up company becomes the ‘Virtual Incubatee’ of Technopark-TBI and the College, an Extension Centre of T-TBI.The infrastructure and R & D facilities for this are offered by the college Entrepreneurship Development Cell(EDC) and other support facilities shall be offered by the Technopark-TBI.
